Preferred candidates will be expected to meet
the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching,
active scholarly and professional work, and service to
the University and community. In addition, new faculty
are encouraged to develop and participate in activities
that support the University's strategic plan. This plan
emphasizes three areas: a) alternative modes of instructional
delivery to include off-campus and distance learning;
b) the learning process, i.e., innovative teaching strategies
and/or research on how students learn and apply knowledge
over an extended period of time; and c) partnership with
the community to enhance social, economic, and cultural
conditions.
COLLEGE OF ARTS AND LETTERS
Department of Communication Studies (2 positions)
Assistant or Associate Professor (one may be at the Associate rank). Ability to teach in two or more of the following areas: communication ethics, Latino/a media, international communication, rhetoric/rhetorical theory, business/professional communication, media studies (race, gender, popular culture). Experience in departmental curriculum assessment is a plus. The Department is seeking candidates who appreciate the place of their specialization in the broader study of communication and who can apply their perspectives in multicultural contexts. A completed Ph.D. in Communication is required at the time of appointment.

Department of Music (one position)
Assistant Professor. Choral Music and Music Education. Earned doctorate required at the time of appointment. This person will be responsible for coordinating the Choral Program, conducting the Chamber Singers (select vocal ensemble) and teaching conducting, choral literature, and music education courses. Other duties may be assigned according to qualifications and department needs. Other qualifications include evidence of success as choral conductor at the university level or equivalent experience. Teaching experience at the high school level is desirable.

Department of World Languages and Literatures (one position)
Assistant Professor. Spanish or Spanish American Literature. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment, teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Capable of teaching a broad range of undergraduate and masters level courses. Interest and background in linguistics to teach at the undergraduate level is desirable.

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND PUBLIC ADMINSTRATION
Department of Accounting and Finance (three positions)
Rank is open with Associate Professor or Professor rank preferred. Accounting or Finance. Ph.D. in accounting or finance, or academically or professionally qualified in accounting, finance or closely related field, according to AACSB standards. Industry experience with a CPA or CFP desired. For the accounting position, all areas except tax are needed. For the finance position, financial planning, financial institutions, or investments desired. Candidates must display a record of accomplishment in applied research and service, and potential for quality teaching. It is expected that the successful candidate for this position will teach a normal load of courses, have a viable research agenda, and will participate in curriculum development within the Department. Candidates are expected to teach both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. It is expected that this person will also be involved in the advising of majors in the Department, College, and University-wide committees. The possibility to earn additional compensation through summer school teaching exists.
Rank is open. Real Estate. Ph.D. in real estate or finance, or academically or professionally qualified according to AACSB standards. It is expected that the successful candidate for this position will teach a normal load of courses, have a viable research agenda, and will participate in curriculum development within the Department. Candidates are expected to teach both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. It is expected that this person will also be involved in the advising of majors in the Department, College, and University-wide committees. The possibility to earn additional compensation through summer school teaching exists. The possibility for external funding to support development of a Real Estate Center exists.
At the assistant rank the candidate must be able to teach all areas of real estate. The ability to teach finance courses a plus. The candidate must display potential for excellence in research and service, and evidence of quality teaching. Some industry experience a plus.
Whereas at the associate rank or above, the candidate must have administrative ability as well. The candidate must display excellence in applied research and service and potential for quality teaching. Significant industry experience a plus. The candidate for the senior rank will also be expected to play a significant administrative role and outreach with the community.

Industry experience and CPA a plus. The areas of interest are financial accounting, auditing, taxation, governmental and non-profit accounting or accounting information systems. Department of Information and Decision Sciences (one position)
Rank is open with Assistant Professor preferred. Transportation and Logistics. A doctorate is required, a doctorate from a business school discipline is preferred. Applicants should have a widespread transportation and management perspective with some combination of applied and theoretical skills in the areas of logistics, distribution, supply chain management, transportation policy and regulation, intelligent transportation systems, advanced technologies in transportation, transportation planning and simulation.
Opportunity exists for participating in a university transportation/logistics center that will service the community in a growing and dynamic national transportation hub.

Department of Public Administration (two positions)
Associate Professor or Professor. Department Chair. A doctorate is required. As well as serving as department chair, the candidates need to be able to teach courses in the areas of research methods, administrative law, government-business relations, and contribute to the Master of Public Administration program’s overall research, teaching, and service missions. The Department of Public Administration is located within Cal State, San Bernardino’s College of Business and Public Administration. It offers the BA in Administration with a Concentration in Public Administration and the Master of Public Administration programs at Cal State’s main campus in San Bernardino, and in Palm Desert. The Master of Public Administration and BA in Public Administration programs have about 110 students, and include an emphasis in Water Resources Management. The graduate program is accredited by NASPAA.
Assistant Professor. Public Administration. The doctorate is required. The faculty member should be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public administration in the areas of management of public organizations, and public budgeting and finance, and government/business relations.

COLLEGE OF NATURAL SCIENCES
Department of Biology (one position)
Assistant Professor. Cell Biology. The candidate must have a Ph.D. and be a eukaryotic cell biologist using molecular techniques who is able to contribute to a diverse array of courses which may include biology of the cell, cell physiology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, recombinant DNA techniques, and an advanced specialty course. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and M.S. levels and participate in introductory courses. Candidates must have a record of published research and show potential for developing and sustaining an independent, externally funded research program involving students. Duties also include advising students, participating in curricular development and program evaluation, engaging in professionally recognized scholarly activities, participating in other courses as appropriate to the applicant's education and experience, and interacting as appropriate with the community.

Department of Health Science and Human Ecology (two positions)
Assistant Professor. Health Services Administration. The Department of Health Science and Human Ecology,
California State University, San Bernardino, California is accepting applications for a tenure track assistant professor for the health services administration program. The successful candidate will possess a doctorate degree in a health administration related discipline and professional experience in health care delivery or public health. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to establish a program of research, teaching and university/community service expected for successful tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will teach courses in the MSHSA graduate program and the undergraduate program and supervise master's theses and residencies.
Assistant or Associate Professor. Environmental Health/Industrial Hygiene. Candidates should have general expertise in several areas of Public Health and specific expertise in Environmental Health Science/Industrial Hygiene. A doctoral degree is required with a major in Environmental Health Science, Industrial Hygiene, or other appropriate field. Preference will be given to a candidate who is qualified to become a Registered Environmental Health Specialist. A history of grant writing and grant funded research and/or demonstration projects is desirable.

Department of Kinesiology (3 positions)
Assistant Professor. Pedagogy (2 positions). Earned doctorate in Kinesiology/Physical Education with a specialization in Pedagogical Kinesiology or related area. Successful candidates will teach in Pedagogical Kinesiology and correlate areas (viz. Adapted Physical Education, History and Philosophy, Psychology/Sociology of Physical Activity, Lifetime Fitness, Motor Development, Motor Control, Biomechanics, Measurement and Evaluation, etc.). Additionally, the candidate will teach courses in the professional preparation and basic instructional program. Scholarly activities are expected. An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding is desirable. The candidate also will advise students and serve on department, college and university committees.
Assistant Professor. Generalist. Earned doctorate in Kinesiology/Physical Education Successful candidates will teach in the Department of Kinesiology. Candidates with a specialization in one of the following areas will receive strong consideration: Pedagogical Kinesiology, Motor Control, Adapted Physical Education, History and Philosophy, Lifetime Fitness, Motor Development, Motor Control, Biomechanics, Measurement and Evaluation. Additionally, the candidate will teach courses in the professional preparation and basic instructional program. Scholarly activities are expected. An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding is desirable. The candidate also will advise students and serve on department, college and university committees.

Department of Physics (one position)
Assistant Professor. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy or a related field, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level. Teaching duties will include introductory physics and astronomy classes as well as applied electronics.

COLLEGE OF SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
Department of Geography(one position)
Assistant Professor. Human Geography. The department is seeking a human geographer with proficiency in GIS and an interest in teaching and research. The successful candidate must be able to develop and teach courses related to his/her disciplinary specialty and at least introductory level GIS. In addition, the ability to teach introductory geography courses that fulfill general education requirements on campus is expected. The applicant should demonstrate an ability to work with undergraduate students and a willingness to engage them in practical research.

Department of Psychology(one position)
Associate Professor. Quantitative Psychology. Applicants must possess a doctoral degree and demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate research. The successful candidate will have expertise in and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching in critical thinking, research methodology, and statistics and measurement, plus courses related to his/her area of expertise. Approximately one-third of the candidate’s teaching load will be in the College of Education. Individuals with research interests in quantitative psychology, outcomes assessment, and program evaluation are especially encouraged to apply. A record of obtaining external funding is highly desirable. Department of Social Work (one position) [Search Extended]
Assistant Professor. Direct Social Work Practice and Field Education at B.S.W. Level. The Department of Social Work seeks candidates for a tenure track position in direct practice and field education. This is a new position in a B.A.S.W. program that was granted candidacy in June 2003. It is an opportunity for an ambitious person to play a major role in field and curriculum development. Opportunities to teach in the department's established M.S.W. program are also available. A commitment to field education is essential. Candidates must have an ability to work collaboratively with a range of faculty, community members, social work agencies and students. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to conduct research and teach courses at the BSW and MSW level. An M.S.W. and Ph.D./D.S.W. in Social Work or related field are required as well as three years post baccalaureate direct practice experience. A clinical license preferred.
